ORSA AGM a success

The ORSA AGM which was held yesterday (Sunday 4th November 2007) at Hotel Thilanka , Buwelikada , Kandy was a very successful event.

The Key officials of the association were re elected unanimously.

ORSA Day Trip 23 Sunday September 2007

The annual day trip of the Old Rajans Scout Association which held on 23rd Sunday September 2007 was completed successfully.

Places of Visit

Victoria Dam and Power House
Deltotota Falls
Lulkandura Falls

Key Events

The key point of the trip was the community development project held at Deltota Sunday School. The ORSA donated books for the children.

Former OBU President - Mr Luxman Silva Expired

Mr Luxman Silva a member of the Old Rajans Scout Association and a former President of Old Boys Union of Dharmaraja college has expired.

He was a very active Old Boy in the OBU and was the key to start up many projects including the OBU Head Quaters at Buwelika.

The funeral ceremony will be held at Gampola cemetery on 03 September 2007.

The Everest Expedition team which left on 16th August have now arrived in Delhi and doing well and on schedule.

Rajans Flag will be on top of the Himalaya again!!!

12 Presidents’ Scouts of the College Scout Group, along with 6 Scout Leaders and Assistant Scout Leaders would be leave from here tomorrow, to scale the Langton Glacier on Himalayan mountain range. Langtang Lirung peak is a part of the Langtang National park in Nepal, which is 7248 meters in height.

This happens to be the largest team of Lankan students ever to embark on a Himalayan Expedition.

Lets all get-together and salute the heroes of mother Rajans to accomplish this mission and make it another outstanding moment of excellence in our continuous adventure.

Well wishers for the Dharmaraja Team for the World Jamboree

Well Wishing Ceremony for Rajans 23rd July 2007

The Old Scouts Association are hosting a well wishing ceremony at college premises for the 1st Kandy Dharmaraja Scouts who are participating for the 21st World Jamboree to be held at Hylands Park, Chelmsford in the United Kingdom(28th July - 9th August).

26 scouts from Dharmaraja troop will take part in the contingent from Sri Lanka numbering 90.

We wish them all good luck and a very enjoyable time.

"Dharmasena Pathiraja Cinema Abinandana" another grand Event By ORSA

The Old Rajans Scout Association(ORSA) has organized a Cinema Festival of well known film producer and Old Rajan Mr Dharmasena Pathiraja, as their major fund raising event for year 2007 in aid of the Lake View Park International Scout Center.

The Derana TV will be the official Television while Asura Fm will be the official radio of the event.

3rd Committee meeting of ORSA

The 3rd committee meeting of ORSA was held on 4th February 2007 at Dunumadalawa Forest Resavior. This meeting was specially organized to congratulate and welcome the new District Commissioner of Kandy District Mr. Sarath Mataraarachchi who is the 3rd DC in a row from Dharmaraja. Then the issues relating to the Mega-fund raising project which is scheduled to be held on 4th March 2007 was discussed by the committee members. To view a detailed presentation about the project click here.

Training camp of Troop number 11 scouts

A training camp was held couple of weeks back to train the scouts of Troop number 11 who are preparing to complete their presedent's badges this year. The camp was held for 3 days and the program was planned and administered by Mr. Namal Palliyaguruge and Mr. Saliya Dahanayaka.

The Two Day Excursion of Old Scouts

14 & 15 th January 2007

The Old Rajans Scout Association members had a merry time at the annual two day excursion to Katharagama on 14 & 15th January 2007.

The bus started from Kandy first visiting Mahiyangana temple and then proceeding to Katharagama. The crowd visited the Katharagama Devalaya and Kirivehera .

On the second day they visited the Maligavila and Udaganawa and had a bath at Manik Ganga at Okkampitiya.

Pirith and Dhana at Lake View Park

12 & 13th January 2007

The Old Rajans Scout Association and 1st Kandy Dharmaraja Scout group will start their annual calendar with Pirith and Dhana ceremony at lake View Park International Scout centre.

The Prith Chanting will be on 12th Night and The Dhana will be on 13th morning.

Mr Sarath Matharaarachchi Appointed as Kandy District Scout Commissioner

The Sri Lanka Scout Association has appointed Mr Saratha Matarachi the Group Scout Leader of 1st Kandy Dharmaraja Scout Group as the Commissioner for Kandy District Scouts. He has held the position of Group Scout Leader of Dharmaraja scouts for more than 13 years.

Mr Sarath Mathaarachci is a proud Old Rajan and a well known Leader Trainer for training scout leaders in Sri Lanka. In addition he is the prefect of Games at Dharmaraja college who contributes to the betterment of Dharmaraja College sports.

We wish him all the success in his new office.
